The Discovering Buddhism program is the result of the combined efforts of a number of FPMT teachers and spiritual program coordinators, under the guidance and advice of Lama Zopa Rinpoche.
Discovering Buddhism (DB) is an estimated 2-year course for which students may receive a certificate of completion upon fulfillment of all requirements. The aim of the Discovering Buddhism program is to give participants a solid footing in the practice of Mahayana Buddhism. By engaging in this program, participants will receive an experiential taste of the Buddha's teachings, some retreat experience, and will have the skills they need to make their lives most meaningful.
Newcomers are welcome. We have moved from Sovereign House in Oakville to The Centre for Compassion & Wisdom beside Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 3445 Lakeshore Rd Burlington (just west of Walker's Line). Click here for events.
The Hamilton group was formed in October 2005 and since then we have formed a small but supportive community including teachers, nurses, reporters, psychologists, IT workers, business people, healers, home-makers, actors, students, both young and retired. We study, discuss and practice Buddha's teachings at an introductory level, based on the Stages of the Path to Buddhahood from an FPMT program called Discovering Buddhism.
Topic: Presenting the Path
Starting Tuesday January 5, every Tuesday from 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
Presenting the Path is a brief introduction to a step by step system of practice that identifies all the stages of realization needed for the realization of the full awakening of Buddhahood. Each evening includes practical philosophical discussion and meditation practice.
