Advice for Living Well: Science of the Mind, Inspiration for the Heart

a Free Public Talk with Geshe Sonam

Mindfulness, love, and compassion are for everyone. This talk is aimed at presenting methods of mental development that help us cultivate these qualities to improve our day to day lives and relationships with others. Though the wisdom presented here comes mainly from the Buddhist tradition, it will be accessible and relevant to anyone interested in learning ways to improve their happiness and quality of life.

Geshe Sonam, will present these ways of thinking in a spirit of openness and free inquiry. There will be plenty of opportunities for questions as well as periods to try out the methods in meditation.

Venerable Geshe Sonam Ngodup

We are delighted to welcome Geshe Sonam Ngodrup back to Canada and to Lama Yeshe Ling! We are so fortunate that he will be volunteering to teach and offer spiritual guidance. Geshe Ngodrup is very well loved by his students and is known for being a warm, patient and approachable teacher. Geshe-la is an inspiring example of how to bring the Dharma into practice.

Venerable Geshe Sonam Ngodrup was born in Kardze, Kham in 1968, crossed the Himalays to come to India to become a monk when he was 13 years old. He graduated with distinction as a Lharampa Geshe from Sera Je monastery (much more than a doctorate). After this he studied tantric philosophy and ritual at Gyume Tantric College. Geshe Sonam has taught at the Maitraiya Institute in the Netherlands, at Nalanda Monastery in France and as a visiting teacher at various FPMT centres in Europe and here at Lama Yeshe Ling.
